“Fall” Into Greatness

Have you noticed? The seasons have definitely been changing again. The leaves are turning a hundred different shades of reds, oranges and yellows. The days are getting crisper and cooler. The air is definitely starting to feel distinctly more autumn-like. Before we know it, Christmas will be here!

Although this changing of the seasons happens four times each year, I wonder how many people see this time of transition as a time when they have the opportunity (as individuals) to re-vamp and change themselves?

It’s easier than you might think to achieve lasting change. Change is an ongoing process, and it is always something that you are going to have to work at. But the fact of the matter is that, in the end, it will always be worth it.

Goal achievement is not as difficult to accomplish as many people seem to think. There are a few simple steps that need to be followed to achieve this, but if you follow through with them, you WILL achieve your goals!

So I know many people who wanted to know the exact formula to use to succeed in achieving their goals surrounding bettering themselves. Well, here you go! Follow these steps to achieve a better-functioning life:

1. It all starts with doing an honest assessment of where your weakest areas are in life: look for things that make you a little uncomfortable… things that seem to have rougher edges… things that you think you might like to change. I’m going to state something radical here – these areas of weakness can become the areas from which you will eventually draw the greatest strength. You just need to learn how to better channel your energies and efforts

  • What are your current goals? What are you working on in life? If you aren’t quite sure, then this is a step that you need for sure!
2.  After you have identified the parts of your life that you know you need to work on a little, make a game plan: set some pretty serious goals for yourself to achieve these goals. Then set deadlines. Stretch the timeframe out over the next month or two, but make sure you set a deadline by which you want to have these goals accomplished
  • This is often a tough step for people, because many usually don’t want to face the truths of these areas that they see as weakness. These are not bad weak areas! They are simply areas that you can improve in.

3) Get it down on paper: write down the list of your goals and deadlines. Make sure that those dates also make it onto your calendar where you can see them often. Then look at them. Memorize them. Commit them to heart so that it will be easier to achieve them on time
  • Making sure that you can see your list of goals often is important, so don’t skip this step! Seeing your goals helps make them more real and tangible
4) Set out in search of your dreams: now go out and chase those dreams! Start taking steps in the direction that you know will eventually lead you to the achievement of those goals. Areas that you know you are weaker in or that make you a little afraid need the most attention. Push yourself hard to achieve those goals!
Whether you seize this opportunity and work on tweaking the small details of your personality or if you let it pass you by altogether, I would be willing to bet that even you can think of one or two things that you know you would like to work on. Maybe we all need to be doing an assessment on where the areas are in our lives that need fine tuning, and then making an honest effort to go do it.
Achieving your goals is easier than most people seem to think. All it really takes is clear vision, a little bit of courage, and a whole lot of drive. You CAN reach those dreams! You WILL reach those goals! Have a little faith and you just might surprise yourself.

Impacting the Greater Good

Are you familiar with the idea of the Greater Good? The Greater Good is a concept that I believe needs to be considered more often these days. Too many times, people drift through their days, just going through the motions, without any passion for what they are doing or enjoyment in the process. They rarely pay attention to how their actions will impact the world around them… but even the littlest actions can have a huge impact!
What would you do if you encountered someone who was clearly having a rough day and you had the opportunity to help? Would you step out of your comfort zone and do it? Would you make that difference?

You may not believe it (and you may not even get to witness the immediate impact), but strong communities are created by building up the people as well as their physical structures. To me, an ideal community is one where people know their neighbours. The kids can play outside as the adults chat over coffee on the patio. People acknowledge each other in the streets with a smile and it is a comfortable-feeling place to live. But it all starts with just one simple stepping out of your way to go and introduce yourself. Compliment the people across the street on their garden next spring. Offer to help them carry their groceries in from the car. Shovel the snow off their walkway without saying anything. Just try to make friends and you might surprise yourself with how easy it actually is.

It all ties together

People rarely realize it, but everything that we do has an impact on the world as a whole. For every action, there is a reaction. You’ve heard that saying about what would happen if someone were to go back in time and squash a ladybug? Monumental consequences could result from what seems to be just a small, insignificant action. So always think before you do or say something… what could result from this? How will this action impact the world?

You may be surprised how much things change with even just this small consideration.

Just do it!

I know that it is more common for the average North American to shy away from the opportunities where we are given a chance to make a difference… but we need to stop doing that. We need to get out there, get involved, make that difference and ultimately change the world!

I want to challenge you this week… go out of your way to make someone else’s day better! Get out of your comfort zone and make that difference in the world!

Life has so many wonderful things to offer but sometimes we are blinded and focused on things that we shouldn’t be. It has its wonderful moments. It’s laughing with your friends. It’s the sweat in your palms and that lump in your throat when you are waiting to meet that someone for the very first time. It could be a date or an interview but just the same, it lets you know you’re alive. It’s that feeling you get in the pit in your stomach when they actually see you. Or seeing someone that you’ve longed for and they’re finally in your arms. It’s that feeling you get when being held by hands that aren’t your own. It’s the thrill of an escape with someone that excites you. It’s helping a friend find something they’ve lost. It’s a smile, a joke that makes you laugh until you cry. It’s reading: “I love you” on a note. It’s the thinking of things you may never do again and the doing of things you only dreamed of. It’s the road ahead and the road behind. It’s the good things and the fond memories you can remember in your darkest times. It’s the first step and the last and every one in between because they all make up the good life.

2015 will bring more love, prosperity and health to all, we just need to send out that good energy in order to receive it.

Live For Yourself

We sometimes tend to focus on things that matter but aren't the be all and end all of things. There’s so much more to life than finding someone who will want you, or being sad over someone who doesn’t. There’s a lot of wonderful time to be spent discovering yourself without hoping someone will fall in love with you along the way, and it doesn’t need to be painful or empty. You need to fill yourself up with love. Not anyone else. Become a whole being on your own. Go on adventures, sit in a coffee shop on your own, dress up for yourself, give to others, smile a lot. Live for yourself and be happy on your own. It isn’t any less beautiful, I promise.

Self Love

I have had to learn this the hard way and I can honestly say I am still learning. The best advice I can give you all is to learn to love yourself enough so that when someone enters your life that treats you negatively, you can stand up for yourself and have the strength to let them go. You can learn that it is okay to say no to anyone who is not willing to treat you with the love and respect you not only want, but also deserve. Have the courage to walk away from anything that does not serve you well. Search for your highest good.

I have come across a lot of people in my life and sometimes I feel these people have entered my life at the wrong time. Or maybe that’s how I feel but it was actually the right time, to this day I sometimes sit and think, but what is the point of this person, why now and not then.  

You will come across many people in your life. They will all have a purpose to fulfill. Some will teach you a lesson and some will leave your soul wounded. Some will love you for their selfish motives and some will love you unconditionally. Some will cheat you, lie to you and stab you in your back. Learn from the lessons life teaches you and don’t waste your time on people who are there in your life for their convenience and who never take you seriously. Don’t allow people to use you for their happiness. Just be Strong and don’t let anything break you or leave you shattered. Choose the people whom you want in your life.
